Earth Hour 2012 - "Go Beyond The Hour"
12/03/2012
The Ethnic Communities Sustainable Living Project (ECSLP) is supporting a variety of Earth Hour events to encourage Sydney’s diverse communities to “Go Beyond the Hour”.
“From 8.30 – 9.30pm on Saturday 31st March we will all switch off lights and appliances as a demonstration of how easy it is to reduce our power consumption and make a contribution to reducing carbon emissions across the globe,” said Pilar Angon, Spanish educator. “It is a small thing but for many it will be the first step in making lasting behaviour changes that can lessen our environmental impact, and an opportunity to be part of a global campaign.”
A team of Bilingual Environmental Educators will deliver a series of energy efficiency workshops in community languages across Sydney in the lead up to Earth Hour.
ECC Project Officer Ottilie Bick-Simpson said “This will be a great opportunity for people to share energy saving ideas with each other, and to find out more about the NSW Government’s Save Power program and how they can benefit.”
