I was born in Tianjin, a northern part of China.  Since I was little, I was taught that everything from nature should be valued and respected.  I have always carried a great passion for protecting our beautiful earth.  I have worked as a business consultant and a project trainer for 10 years in China and Singapore and I came to Australia as a skilled migrant in 2008 and completed my Master degree in Urban Planning at the University of New South Wales in 2012, in the field of Environmental Sustainability.

Since my arrival in Sydney, I have stayed engaged with my community and have volunteered for different community groups for the past 5 years.  I feel proud to join the Sustainable Living Project as Mandarin bilingual educator.  This role lets me share skills and stories with the Chinese communities on a wide range of environmental topics.  No matter how small our actions, they all contribute to a more sustainable lifestyle.

I grew up in mid-air – Floor 31 to be exact on the top of a hill in Hong Kong; a town of concrete beehive apartments.  Though outside my home, there was a proud green hill behind me full of birds and bugs.  Nature left its thriving impressions everywhere.

In my new post I am reminded of how our daily habits exert powerful influence as a collective beyond our walls.  Many of our elders still treat resources with care, and re-use them creatively, a practice borne out of necessity.  I hope we’ll pick up some good habits too before we are pressed to do so.

Prior to joining ECC I did scientific research in different places; I have also worked with migrant groups in Hong Kong, and practised organic farming in Taiwan.
