Multicultural Leaders' Forum on Climate Change

24/11/2010

The ECC hosted Sydney's first Multicultural Leaders Forum on Climate Change in partnership with Auburn Community Development Network (ACDN) recently...

The forum was held at Auburn Town Hall and attracted more than 60 community representatives who came together to discuss initiatives their community organisations could take to promote environmental actions at an organisational and community level.
Participants were treated to inspirational presentations from Mindjingbal man Clarence Slockee (Aboriginal Education Officer at the Botanic Gardens Trust and ABC Gardening presenter) and 2010 NSW Green Globe Sustainability Champion Ms Deepanjali Gupta, climate change activist and co-founder of the Indian Youth Climate Network. Case studies of current initiatives were presented by representatives from ACDN, ECC's Ethnic Communities Sustainable Living Project the Al-Ghazzali Centre and the Tzu Chi Foundation. A special thanks goes to Denise Anderson from the Local Government & Shires Association who stepped in at the eleventh hour to present on Climate Change the Facts and Pino Migliorino, Chair of FECCA, for facilitating the event. Outcomes of the event and more information will be available shortly. To see the forum program click here.
