Sewing a sustainability fabric!

6/12/2013

The nice thing about sewing is that it is an ongoing learning process. No matter what time in your life you start because you will learn with every step and build your skills. Same as behaviour change, the day you start is the time when you start building your understanding and real actions.

That is how a group of active ladies who meet weekly to practice sewing decided to explore and learn about a new type of activity which does not require prior knowledge. They decided to pour their skills, experiences and mostly their passion into a Save Power program which will assist them and their families to weave useful practices into their daily lives and empower them to change the negative habits positively. It is another way of sewing but for a sustainability fabric.

This time the Save Power Program was conducted in Condell Park, to an Arabic group that was coordinated by Metro Migrant Resource Centre.

Please read one of the participant's story below and please visit our Save Power page for more interesting and nice stories to read.

This was my first time to join an energy efficiency program. It was useful and I learned many ways to save energy at home.
I learned about the Save Power Library Kit which I can borrow from the library and use it to measure how much energy my appliances use at home. I also did not know that using cold water for laundry is better and save energy as well as switching o appliances form the power points.
This all was a new knowledge to me so thank you for the program.
