ECCNSW Chair Mr Peter George Doukas, awarded an OAM

We extend our heartiest congratulations to our Chair Mr Peter George Doukas, who was awarded an OAM for service to multiculturalism in New South Wales.

 
Elected Chair in 2013 and re-elected in 2015 and 2019 Peter Doukas was the youngest ever to serve as Chair of the Ethnic Communities Council. He also served as Secretary between 2009 and 2013 and presided over significant changes to to the internal governance structure of the organisation.
Peter is an energetic, committed and industrious member of the Ethnic Communties Council of NSW and has demonstrated his passion for upholding the principles of multiculturalism through his support of the many initiatives, programs and activities at the ECCNSW. 
 
Peter holds a Juris Doctor from UTS, a Bachelor of Arts in Languages and History from the University of Sydney as well as a Graduate Diploma in Corporate Governance of ASX Listed Entities.  As a legal practitioner, his efforts at the ECCNSW are on a voluntary basis where he gives his time freely to ensure Australia remains pluralistic and welcoming, and where social inclusion and community harmony are paramount.
 
On behalf of the Board of Management, the Members' Forum, the organisational and individual members and the staff of the Ethnic Communties Council of NSW, we applaud Peter as a passionate advocate for multiculturalism and congratulate him on receiving this award.
