ECCNSW at the Ageing and Disability Commission (ADC) multicultural working group

ECCNSW has been participating in The Ageing and Disability Commission (ADC) multicultural working group.

The aim of the group is to advise the ADC ways to better engage CaLD people when promoting the rights of older people and adults with disability to live free from abuse, neglect and exploitation.

About the ADC
The Ageing and Disability Commission (ADC) is an independent agency of the NSW Government. Their role is to promote the rights of older people and adults with disability to live free from abuse, neglect and exploitation in their family, home and community. The ADC responds to reports of alleged abuse, neglect and exploitation of older people and adults with disability by providing advice, making referrals and conducting investigations where appropriate.

What can abuse of older people and people with disability look like in our community?
Signs can include the person no longer having access to their bank account or not being able to freely spend their own money, being prevented from speaking to or seeing family and friends, or being prevented from receiving the services they need to live.
