Voting options
Voting is compulsory for this by-election if you are enrolled to vote in the State electoral district of Port Macquarie. Check your enrolment and electoral district details.
The voting options for this by-election are:
- early voting at an early voting centre (subject to eligibility)
- voting in person at a voting centre on election day
- postal voting (subject to eligibility)
- telephone assisted voting for electors who are blind or have low vision (call 1300 248 683 to apply and vote)
- interstate voting at specified interstate venues.
Voting assistance
Braille ballot papers are not offered for State by-elections.
There are several services provided to make it easier to vote at the Port Macquarie State by-election.
If you need help casting your vote, you can take a friend, carer or relative with you, or you can seek assistance from an election official at the voting centre (polling place).
Election officials can help you mark your ballot papers as you wish, or put your completed ballot papers into the ballot box for you.
People with disability are eligible to use early voting options. People who are blind or have low vision can use telephone assisted voting to cast their vote.

Each voting centre has an accessible voting screen, maxi pens and magnifying sheets.

If you need an interpreter, please call TIS National on 131 450 and ask them to call the NSW Electoral Commission on 1300 135 736 from 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday and 8am to 6pm on early voting Saturday, 8 March and election day Saturday, 15 March.
If you are voting in person, election officials at voting centres who speak a language in addition to English will be wearing a badge showing the language(s) they speak. They can help answer your questions.
You can also take a family member, friend or carer with you to the voting centre or ask them to help you understand your postal vote.
