Men Against Violence (MAV)
The Men Against Violence (MAV) project aims to engage Wellbeing Connectors (WB) to empower men from CALD backgrounds to become the pipeline for change and challenge current perception towards domestic violence in their community.
These connectors will facilitate conversations in both small groups and individuals. These conversations will be held, during menโs activities and at regular meeting places where men frequent. This includes gathering in tea/coffee houses, sports events, social activities and at places of prayer.
The key to treating change is to build the capacity and resilience from within the community. This project will be targeting men in Auburn, Bankstown, Blacktown and Parramatta.
The Impact
TOGETHER WE CAN MAKE OUR COMMUNITY A SAFER PLACE FOR EVERYONE.

Wellbeing Connector
This program was first initiated in 2018 and was funded for 6 consecutive years. It has made lasting changes across multicultural communities in Western Sydney, especially in Auburn, Bankstown, Blacktown, Liverpool and Parramatta.
During 2022-2023, the programโs Wellbeing Connectors conducted meaningful conversations with 539 men at various informal gatherings and at places of worship.
As trusted men in their communities, the Wellbeing Connectors were able to have impactful conversation in their community language, discussing menโs wellbeing, identifying triggers for violent behaviour, providing education about dowry abuse and changing attitudes concerning the safety of women and children.
