More and more, people are interested in mindfulness. However, too much information and various explanations about how to practice mindfulness may throw our mind into further disarray. Dr Yoon-suk Hwang, a mindfulness researcher and practitioner, stresses that there is no right answer for everyone. According to Dr Hwang, mindfulness is effective in reducing aggressive behaviour that people with disabilities may need help managing. It means that mindfulness could help people with disabilities interact with and live well in the community. At times, a person with disabilities may find it difficult to learn and practice mindfulness. If that's the case, then the positive impact of mindfulness could be even transmitted from family members or other close friends who practice it.

Dr Yoon-suk Hwang is an internationally renowned researcher and a mindfulness practitioner. Back in Korea, she was a specialist teacher working with adolescents with disabilities. Since completing her PhD at the University of Sydney, Dr Hwang has worked at Queensland University of Technology, Griffith University and Australian Catholic University, teaching inclusive education, and researching disability, education, mindfulness and quality of life. On the weekend, Dr Hwang enjoys spending time at local markets and being on the hunt for farm-fresh produce.
