The Ethnic Communities’ Council of NSW (ECCNSW) is offering paid positions to bilingual individuals to create recorded interviews about living well with a disability. Interviews will be recorded with people of culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds living with a disability in NSW and ACT, and with guest speakers who have information to share about mainstream resources that can support living well.

About the Role

The Speak My Language (SML) program is a national initiative led by the Ethnic Communities’ Council of NSW in partnership with ethnic and multicultural councils across Australia.  SML focuses on culturally diverse Australians with disabilities, and their supporters, sharing real stories and experiences, via recorded interviews and on radio.

ECCNSW is looking to employ people who are inclusively minded, bi-lingual and well connected in their cultural community, to conduct and record interviews that deliver information and practical tips about living well with a disability at home, in the community and at work or school, preferably in a language other than English.  Training on how to conduct and record interviews will be provided.

Speak My Language Travellers are employed on a casual basis for a maximum 84 hours over 17 weeks, with the first four weeks devoted to training.

  • Bilingual communication skills
  • Understand how Privacy, Duty of Care and Conflict of Interest relates to the role
  • Good file management skills and an ability to use password protected on-line forms
