The Multicultural Framework Review was launched by Minister Andre Giles on June 2nd at the Addison Rd Centre.
The event was held as part of the 50-year celebration of multiculturalism in Australia. More than 300 multicultural community representatives, organizations, and leaders attended the launch to participate in the festivities.
The primary objective of the Multicultural Framework Review is to assess Australia’s institutional arrangements, policies, and programs related to multiculturalism.
The aim is to redefine the national narrative surrounding multiculturalism and work towards building a stronger, more inclusive, and cohesive nation.
The timing of the Review aligns with the 50th anniversary of the Whitlam Government’s 1973 report titled ‘A Multi-cultural Society for the Future.’ This report played a pivotal role in shaping contemporary multicultural Australia.
During the launch event in Sydney’s inner-west, Immigration Minister Andrew Giles introduced the panel of multicultural Australians who will lead and co-author the Review.
Dr. Bulent Hass Dellal AO has been appointed as the Chair of the Review, accompanied by Nyadol Nyuon OAM and Christine Castley.
Additionally, Mr. Mohammad Al-Khafaji, the CEO of FECCA (Federation of Ethnic Communities’ Councils of Australia), has been assigned to the Reference Group, which will provide support to the Review Panel.
ECCNSW congratulates the 3 Panel Members selected to take leadership of this Review and the Reference group established to assist them in the Review.
The final report, along with recommendations, is anticipated to be submitted to the Minister for Immigration, Citizenship, and Multicultural Affairs by March 2024.
