By Peter Doukas OAM, ECCNSW Chair

The ECCNSW mourns the loss of one of our stalwarts and giants of the multicultural space, Mr Ian Lacey AM, who passed away in the company of his family on evening of 30 November.

Ian was one of the most significant and instrumental individuals in Australian multicultural history. Being an early member of the ECCNSW Ian through his activism and representation of the Jewish community was also instrumental in the advice that the ECCNSW provided to the government for the creation of the Anti-Discrimination Act. His political nous as well as his keen legal mind were invaluable to his own community but also to the Council.

He will be sorely missed and the loss of his humour, wit and intellect will be felt by the Council deeply.

May his blessing be a memory and may his memory be a blessing.
