Burwood Police Area Command – Harmony Day Event

The Chief Executive Officer of ECCNSW, Mary Karras, together with the Commonwealth Home Support Program Sector Support Development Officer, Marina Antonas, had the privilege of attending the Harmony Day celebration held at Burwood Police Area Command on Friday, 20th March 2026. The event brought together a diverse range of community members, partners, and local organisations in a welcoming and inclusive environment.

The celebration highlighted the importance of cultural diversity, not only within the community but also among police officers and reinforced the value of social cohesion. It was encouraging to observe strong participation and positive engagement from all attendees, reflecting a shared commitment to respect, understanding, and inclusion.

Harmony Day serves as an important reminder of the strength derived from embracing diversity and working collaboratively to foster connected and supportive communities, including within law enforcement. The event provided a valuable opportunity for the Ethnic Communities’ Council of NSW to strengthen its partnerships, promote inclusivity, and celebrate the rich cultural backgrounds that contribute to the vibrancy of our multicultural communities.

ECCNSW extends its sincere appreciation to Burwood Police Area Command for delivering a well-coordinated and meaningful event, and for their ongoing commitment to promoting community engagement and harmony.
