NSW Expands Driver Knowledge Test to More Community Languages

Transport for NSW is rolling out its Driver Knowledge Test (DKT) Online in seven additional languages throughout 2026.

Since its launch in July 2024, more than 400,000 people have enrolled in the online test, with 80% choosing to complete it digitally. Previously available in English and Simplified Chinese, the test will now expand to Arabic, Vietnamese, and Spanish from April, Korean from June, and Farsi, Traditional Chinese, and Thai from October.

The online format allows people to complete the learner theory test from home or anywhere with internet access. It has improved access for regional residents, new migrants converting overseas licences, single parents, and people with limited time or test anxiety.

Learner drivers can select their preferred language from the welcome screen after enrolling through the Service NSW website. Regardless of the language chosen, all existing licensing requirements apply, including supervised driving hours and a practical driving test. Road signs remain in English throughout.

For those whose language is not yet available online, the test can be completed in person with a booked translator. Road rule information is also available in 77 languages on the NSW Government website.
