Parliamentary Inquiry into Antisemitism Hears from ECCNSW Representatives
On Monday 16th, ECCNSW Chair Peter Doukas OAM and Board Director Joshua Moses appeared as witnesses at the Parliamentary Inquiry into antisemitism in NSW. Their testimony followed the Ethnic Communitiesโ Council of NSWโs recent formal submission, reinforcing the organisationโs commitment to addressing antisemitism and promoting social cohesion across all communities in the state.
The Parliamentary Inquiry into Antisemitism in New South Wales was established on 12 February 2025 by the NSW Legislative Council’s Portfolio Committee No. 5 โ Justice and Communities. The inquiry aims to investigate the causes behind the increasing prevalence and severity of antisemitic incidents across the state, including on university campuses and in schools, and to assess the threat these pose to social cohesion . The committee is also examining ways to enhance the safety of the Jewish community in New South Wales, including improving security measures around synagogues and other places of worship . The inquiry is scheduled to report its findings by 1 September 2025.
