South West Sydney Women Sought for Mental Wellbeing Project
Western Sydney Local Health District (WSLHD) is recruiting women from south west Sydney to join a community co-design project focused on the mental wellbeing of migrant, refugee, and asylum seeker women.
The project is open to women who are passionate about supporting the mental wellbeing of other women, come from a migrant, refugee, or asylum seeker background, or have personal experience with mental wellbeing challenges.
About the Project
The project aims to bring together women from diverse backgrounds to identify challenges and develop practical, culturally appropriate solutions to support the mental wellbeing of migrant, refugee, and asylum seeker women in south west Sydney.
Through a series of workshops, meetings, and activities, participants will share their experiences, work collaboratively to identify opportunities, and help design resources and materials for their communities. There may also be opportunities to trial ideas in community settings or organisations.
The project will run from 31 July 2026 to May 2027, with an option to continue until May 2028.
Support and Conditions for Participants
WSLHD has designed the project to be as accessible as possible. Participants will receive:
- $50 per hour for their time, provided in the form of vouchers
- Interpreting and accessibility support
- Free childcare for face-to-face workshops
- Dedicated staff support throughout the project
- Opportunities to develop skills in co-design and connect with other women in the community
Who Is Eligible
The project is open to women (cisgender or trans) who:
- Are aged 18 or above
- Live and/or work in south west Sydney
- Identify as a migrant, refugee, or asylum seeker — and/or have an interest or professional role in supporting the mental wellbeing of migrant, refugee, and asylum seeker women
- May have personal experience of mental wellbeing challenges, or have supported someone who has
- Feel comfortable sharing ideas and learning from others
- Are active members of their community or organisation
An official title or leadership position is not required. Community members who play an informal role — such as connecting people with information or support — are encouraged to apply.
