ETHNIC COMMUNITIES’ COUNCIL NSW – 16 APRIL 2024

The Ethnic Communities’ Council condemns in the strongest possible terms the terrorist act in Wakeley yesterday. The attack on any religious institution for any reason is abhorrent to our values and those of the multicultural Australia.

We call on all communities affected to exercise restraint and calm in dealing with this difficult matter which is in the hands of the NSW and Australian Federal Police.

Australia is the most successful multicultural society in the world and our strength is in our diversity.  The ECCNSW as the peak body representing multicultural communities in NSW is reaching out to those affected communities and will continue to assist in ensuring that this incident remains an isolated one unrelated to the success of our cohesive community.
