The Ethnic Communities Council of NSW with great sadness and concern acknowledges the recent tragic events in Israel and Gaza.
The Council unequivocally denounces any acts of violence and terrorism, particularly those targeting civilians within the affected areas.
We express our solidarity with all democratic governments, those most impacted and our members and urge for a swift resolution to this conflict. We commend the efforts to keep New South Wales safe amidst increased security concerns for the NSW Jewish community.
The Council condemns in the strongest possible terms the celebrating of support for the murder of innocent civilians, as well as the antisemitism witnessed in Sydney and calls on the government to leverage the carefully cultivated laws against hate speech against those that are supporting and promoting indiscriminate violence.
