What you need to know about fuel security in NSW

The NSW Government, together with the Australian Government, is preparing for a range of fuel disruption scenarios linked to the conflict in the Middle East.

The National Fuel Security Planโ€ฏhas four levels of action โ€“ we are currently at level 2 โ€˜Keeping Australia Movingโ€™.

We can all do our part to keep NSW and Australia moving:

  • At the petrol pump, buy what you need, when you need it โ€“ no more. There is currently enough fuel overall but overbuying can deprive others, particularly in regional communities.
  • If youโ€™re storing fuel at home, only store small quantities. Fuel vapours are highly flammable, so it is best to only keep what you need for things like the mower or generator.
  • Useย FuelCheckโ€ฏfor daily information on fuel prices and availability across the state. You can also step up and be a bowser buster. Use FuelCheck to report price mismatches at the pump to help ensure everyone in NSW is getting a fair price.

Support is available for individuals, households,โ€ฏcommunitiesโ€ฏand businesses to help manage fuel costs and cost-of-living pressures.
