The Australian Bureau of Statistics are currently recruiting Local Engagement Officers (LEOs) for the 2021 Census. Positions are available across the country in all states and territories. The Census will be held on the 10 August 2021.

About the role
Local Engagement Officers (LEOs) are critical for us to deliver our commitment to improve the quality and relevance of Census data for all Australians, including diverse population groups. In your role you will engage with local stakeholders and people within the community, such as Culturally and Linguistically Diverse populations, people with disability, the elderly, and Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people.

Some of your key responsibilities will include;

  • Interacting with the public and responding to queries about the Census.
  • Running information and/or fill in form sessions where required within the community.
  • Coordinating Pop-up hubs including engaging with venues and managing a team of field staff.

You will earn $36.90 per hour (inclusive of 25% loading), plus superannuation. Contracts commence 17 May 2021. Positions are temporary (casual) with variable working hours, including days, evenings and weekends.
