Youth Consult for Change (UC Change) is a consultancy group made up of young people between 16 and 21 who have experience in Out of Home Care (OOHC). Their role is to provide consultation on all aspects of the Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ) child protection and out of home care work such as policy, practice advice, project development and practice mandates. The purpose of these consultations is to provide recommendations and advice to improve the experience of children and families who come into contact with their agency.
To become members of UC Change, young people must first apply through an Expression of Interest (EOI) process. Once appointed to the UC Change consultant role, they remain in the role for a two-year period.
Recruitment is underway for new UC Change consultants who will begin in their roles in July 2024.
In order to apply for a consultant role, young people must:
- have a lived experience in OOHC
- be between the ages of 16 and 21
- be willing to commit to the expectations of the role.
If you know of any young people interested in the Youth Consult for Change consultant role, please speak with them about the opportunity and encourage them to apply. The expressions of interest close on 19 April 2024.
